Tips On Caring For French Bulldogs
1. Socialize Your Puppy
Socializing your new French Bulldog puppy early is imperative to their good behavior down the road. Dogs need to be exposed to variety of people, places and situations. This will help to bring out the outgoing side of your dog’s personality. One of the reasons why some dogs are timid or mean towards other dogs and people is because they weren’t properly socialized. Just make sure your pup is up to date on his or her shots before you start taking it out with you to public places.
2. Find A Good Veterinarian
One of the most important steps in caring for your French Bulldog puppy is finding the right veterinarian. You can use Yelp and other online tools to select the best animal hospital for your pup. Also, if you’re a member of a local French Bulldog club your fellow club members can point you in the right direction. It always seems to help when your veterinarian has experience with French Bulldogs either through personal ownership of the breed or due to popularity among French Bulldog owners in the area.
3. Avoid Heat
French Bulldogs do not do well in hot weather. If you live in an area where summers are hot then you should make sure that your home is properly cooled during the day. Walking is best done early in the morning or later in the evening during hot summer days. Also, do not leave your French Bulldog in a car when it’s hot. Exposing your French Bulldog to extreme heat for prolonged period of time can have serious negative health effects.
